SEMESTER IN ITALY


An American university in Rome, Italy, John Cabot University has been welcoming study abroad students to its campus in the beautiful neighborhood of Trastevere for over 40 years. Our students come from over 60 countries to study the liberal arts in our small, engaging classes with world-renowned professors and scholars. 

Study abroad students are able to directly enroll at JCU and choose from over 250 courses each semester to earn credits that transfer easily back to American institutions. Students enjoy airport pickup, a comprehensive orientation program, and university housing in beautiful Roman buildings equipped with 24/7 security and on-site support. 

Outside of the classroom, study abroad participate in JCU athletics, clubs, performing arts, community service, and prestigious internships with over 150 companies and organizations. And of course, students spend time not only making new friends in JCU’s beautiful courtyards and terraces, but also exploring Rome and easily reachable European cities during their weekends.

John Cabot's academic experience comprises four pillars: an American curriculum that upholds the standards of the liberal arts, committed professors who are international experts in their fields, a highly international and accomplished student body from over 60 counties, and an inspiring international setting in the heart of Rome, Italy. 

John Cabot University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education to operate as a four-year American university in Italy. 

Students normally take between 12-17 credits, which may be transferred back to your home university so you can stay on track for graduation. Please check with your academic advisor and/or Study Abroad office for details.

John Cabot University is an American university offering 13 Bachelor of Arts degree programs and study abroad opportunities for students who wish to visit our campus in Rome, Italy for one or two semesters. With 1,100 students from over 60 countries, studying at John Cabot University will give you a new and wider perspective on the world. 

Studying abroad is an essential feature of today’s university experience. At John Cabot University, students not only explore unfamiliar places and cultures, but also acquire a first-rate university education.
Setting Description:
John Cabot University’s campus is situated in the historic and charming neighborhood of Trastevere along the famous Tiber River. All important Roman attractions are within a short walking distance from campus. 

Campus facilities include the recently renovated library, beautiful terraces and courtyards, Wi-Fi in all buildings, studio art facilities, computer labs, a cafeteria, fitness center, and student centers. 

Residence halls are converted Roman apartments with 24/7 security, student lounges, study rooms, residential assistants, and 24/7 son-site staff support.
Program Value:
As a study abroad student at John Cabot University, you will learn in small classes from professors who encourage dialogue and use the city of Rome as a learning laboratory. You will also have opportunities for internships at multinational companies, international organizations, NGOs, consulates, government offices, and museums, as well as opportunities for study and travel beyond Italy’s borders to Africa, the Middle East, Asia and throughout Europe.

3 credits: $3,050 for 1 course 
6 credits: $4,450 for 2 course
